How Bathorium Added 6,000 Subscribers Before Black Friday With a $15,000 St. Lucia Sweepstakes

A luxury bath soak brand used a $15,000 St. Lucia sweepstakes to build its list before Black Friday, with bonus entries tied to its best-selling Crush line and a fully on-brand page.

The Brand

Bathorium makes bath soaks, sold on its own Shopify store and through luxury hotels and retailers across North America. Its Crush line runs from mineral clays to plant milks, and the Crush 8-Pack Discovery Set puts one of each in a single box.

Bathorium sells one product line only on Black Friday weekend, so the goal is to grow the list before November and put that offer in front of as many people as possible.

Why Giveaways

Bathorium had a huge success with a past sweepstakes for Taylor Swift concert tickets, and founder Gregory Macdonald wanted to run something like it again. This time, the goal was to focus on two things before Black Friday: growing the email list and getting more people to try Crush products.

The prize came from an existing partner. Bathorium already works with Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort in St. Lucia, which contributed a five-night villa stay for two. With $2,000 toward flights, the prize is worth $15,000.

It also fits the brand. A villa with an open-air spa over a rainforest stream sells the same feeling a Bathorium soak does. The prize draws people who want what Bathorium makes.

Why Giveaway Ninja

Bathorium compared several giveaway apps on the Shopify App Store before picking Giveaway Ninja. Three requirements decided it:

  • Social entries, so Instagram follows, comments and shares count toward the draw.
  • Purchase entries, so every order on the store earns entries automatically.
  • Custom bonus entries, so one specific product can carry its own reward.

“Giveaway Ninja stood out because we could connect it to social, give entries for purchases, and set custom bonuses, like five entries for our Discovery Set. The pricing was competitive too.”

Sanduli Alwis, Sr. Marketing Manager, Bathorium

Bathorium's agency built the landing page and integrated the app into it. The page looks entirely like Bathorium.

Built to Turn Entries Into Crush Trials and Sales

Entries open September 28 and close December 6, 2026, covering the full run-up to Black Friday. Anyone can enter free with a name and email, then stack up to 100 entries through referrals, Instagram follows and comments, and shopping.

The Crush 8-Pack Discovery Set carries the biggest single bonus. Launch week paired the giveaway with 30% off the Discovery Set. New customers got the discount and five bonus entries in the same order.

Promotion runs across every channel Bathorium owns, plus paid:

  • Email: one dedicated send, then a giveaway block at the bottom of every email, with callouts showing how many entries each product earns.
  • Instagram: dedicated posts, an explainer Reel, and a weekly push for the rest of the campaign.
  • Website: a homepage banner and a popup.
  • Meta ads pointing to the landing page.

The Results: 6,000 New Subscribers in Under Three Weeks

6,000+
New email subscribers
8,000+
Sweepstakes participants

Bathorium expected a slow start. Instead, the sweepstakes passed 8,000 participants and added about 6,000 new people to the email list in its first three weeks.

The campaign isn't over. Bathorium plans a double-entry promotion around Black Friday weekend to push the final stretch.

The Lesson: Make the Trial Product the Shortcut to Better Odds

Bathorium put the biggest bonus on the product it most wanted people to try, so the giveaway and the trial offer pushed in the same direction.

The second lesson is operational. Test the full entry flow before launch, and brief customer service early, because once entries count, people write in to ask how many they have.
