How do I run a poll or survey inside my giveaway?
Quick answer
Add the Polls & Surveys entry action, write your question and add the answer options, with Allow Multiple Choices on or off. Entrants tick their answers and click Send Answer to earn the entries. The results appear as vote counts on your giveaway's Entries page, and you can export every entrant's answers to a CSV.
Polls & Surveys asks entrants a multiple-choice question and rewards them for answering. It's the easiest way to learn what your customers want, because people answer a question gladly when it earns them a chance to win.
How do polls and surveys work?
- The entrant reads your question and ticks an option. With Allow Multiple Choices on, they can tick several.
- They click the button, "✔ Send Answer" by default, and the entries are added.
- Each entrant answers once.
On your giveaway's Entries page, a card for each poll shows the number of votes per option. Filter the list by Poll / Survey to see who picked what, or download the POLLS & QUESTIONS CSV: one row per entrant with their email, their total entries and a column for every question, poll and custom action.
How do I add a poll?
- Edit your giveaway, open the ENTRY ACTIONS tab and click Polls & Surveys in the Boost On-site Engagement group.
- Write the Title and put your question in the Description.
- Edit the options, click ADD OPTION for more, and use the trash icon to remove one. Each option can be up to 60 characters.
- Switch on Allow Multiple Choices if people can pick more than one.
- Set the Value, and switch on Mandatory if every entrant must answer.
- Click the small SAVE button, then save the giveaway.
Why use a giveaway poll to collect first-party data?
What customers tell you directly, their preferences, plans and opinions, is the most accurate data you can own. It doesn't depend on cookies or ad platforms, and it comes with the entrant's email, so you can act on it. A giveaway poll collects it at scale: entrants answer because it earns them entries, not because they feel like filling in a survey.
Use it to:
- Segment your emails. Send the espresso fans your espresso launch and the tea drinkers your tea box.
- Decide what to make next with votes from real buyers, before you spend on stock.
- Personalize offers by size, skin type, pet or style, instead of sending everyone the same email.
- Find your best customers' tastes. The CSV also lists each entrant's referrals and total sale value from the giveaway, so you can see which answers come from the people who spend and share the most.

Tips: keep it to 3 to 6 options, one question per action, and a short survey of two or three polls at most. Tell entrants how you'll use their answers in your privacy policy and official rules.
